These performances of Nos. 1 and 4 are stunning; no dawdling here in the total playing time for both is slightly over one hour

Ask a question about this product

BRC-2661, with this singer's Schumann Dichterliebe cycle, proved an incontestable best seller and pleas for issuing his other LPs have been raining ever since. The solution to the problem came from a generous lady who lent to the venture her rare LPs and her considerable transferring gifts and sent the .wav files burned on three separate CDs for further elaboration from us. Happily most tracks were in pristine condition and our working on them was a pleasure. On BRC-2997 Sze's Handel and Mozart arias are miracles of nuance and his breath is awesome. Here Brahms' Four Serious Songs receive one of the best recordings ever given them and so are the two Moussorgsky cycles. One should commend the Chinese bass pronunciation in three different languages too, which adds a feel of authenticity to the purely musical enjoyment these CDs offer. The Tcherepnin (fils) chinese songs of the third LP were fairly recent compositions and could not be included of course. Still admirers of the great bass will enjoy what is left of the three LPs in finest sound.
