Original buyers of a multi-LP box called "The Art of Emil Gilels" (EMI) replacing their collection with CDs must have felt utterly let down when only the Rach3 (with the Paris Conservatoire under Cluytens, 1955 vintage) came out on Testament. The remainder was lost. We have reassembled its contents from a French Columbia and a MHS 2 LPs set and lovingly restored it in a double CD. For the ones that never knew these suffice to say that they get here top interpretations of everything, including an ideal Medtner Sonata Reminiscenza.
