Yi-Kwei Sze was the bass singing the part of the pere Laurent in the mono Boston/Munch Berlioz Romeo, and quite an imposing figure he cut. He has a pure bass voice, agile if not a true basso cantante and his rendition of Schumann's Dichterliebe has been deleted a long time ago. Here it is, with the plus bonus of ideal accompaniments from Brooks Smith and in true stereo. A rarity and an important addition to the Lieder catalog. |
